Bonvillars: visit to europa's 1st educational truffle farm

The Truffle raises many questions: its edible varieties, the species of mychorizable trees, truffle growing techniques, digging, production methods, education and the essential collaboration of the truffle dog, etc. So many answers which are part of the guided tour of the Truffière Didactic in Bonvillars (VD).

It is thanks to the Association “1ère Truffière Region of Switzerland” and the Compagnons de la Truffe Vaudoise, that the First Didactic Truffière of Europe was born. An idyllic place, located at the foot of the Bonvillars vineyard, 14km from Yverdon-les-Bains, the 6,000 m² plot overlooks Lake Neuchâtel. The truffle plantation brings together 12 species and more than 240 trees which were planted in 2016, once mychorized.

The visit is led by a truffle growing expert, member of one of the associations linked to truffles and referent for all questions concerning this endearing and mysterious mushroom.

The visit lasts 2h30 and ends with a small snack served near the truffle farm with some local products.

• Additional tours can be organized upon request during the truffle season, from September to January.
• Equipment: Good shoes, clothing depending on the weather. The visit is maintained even in bad weather.
• Note: Dogs, even on a leash, are not accepted.
• Participants: max 20 people (min. 6 people)
• Registration and online payment required up to 72 hours before the start of the ride.
• The development of the truffle is largely dependent on natural and meteorological elements. In the event of a lack of truffles and in the interest of maintaining the quality of the service, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the walk.

The walks are in French. On request, they can be carried out in English, German or Italian.
