Description

Kulturspeicher – From Würzburg to Florence – The Sculptor Emy Roeder

The Municipal Collection is housed in the right wing of the Kulturspeicher and features works and estates primarily by artists who lived and worked in the Mainfranken region. In addition to artists of regional significance, the collection also includes works by renowned painters such as Otto Modersohn from Worpswede and Erich Heckel. The transition into modern art was significantly advanced through the estate of the sculptor Emy Roeder, who was born in Würzburg in 1890. On display are rare Expressionist sculptures by Emy Roeder, such as The Pregnant Woman and Praying Boy, along with paintings by her artist friends Erich Heckel and Hans Purrmann.
