Information

Caspar David Friedrich - The Painter

The painter Caspar David Friedrich lived in Dresden for more than forty years. Here he studied the paintings in the famous gallery of paintings and became involved in contemporary art debates.

To mark the 250th anniversary of the artist's birth, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden will be holding an exhibition including in the Albertinum.

Even today, the artist's concentration and dedication in capturing nature is still tangible in his drawings. Both his radical subjectivity and his meticulous accuracy of detail continue to have an enduring impact. The allure of his art is most perceptible when standing before the originals themselves.
