Description
The "Alte Schule Nausdorf" is an old school building in the centre of the quaint village "Nausdorf" which beongs to the small town of "Lenzen" in the §Prignitz" county in the German Federal State "Brandenburg". Nausdorf has ca. 50 inhabitants and is located seven kilometers northeast of "Lenzen (Elbe)" and 30 kilometers west of Perleberg. Directly north of Nausdorf is the "Rambower Moor", which is a nature protected bog area. It is one of the finest cross-flow bogs in Brandenburg with a unique flora und fauna and numerous springs. The diversity of habitats can ideally be explored along a 12 kilometers long cyclepath. In spring time you can find orchids and other wetlandplants on the meadows. Cranes can almost be observed at all times. A special nature experience in late autumn is the "crane fall" and the presence of wild gees, that come to stay for the night into the bog area. In southern direction the Rudow Lake can be reached by walking and you can fin swimming places at its northern and southern end. In ca. 6 km distance is the Elbe river valley with good possibilities for cycling and walking as well as with a nature observation plattform and a watch tower. Nausdorf and ist environment belongs to the biosphere reserve "Flusslandschaft Elbe", which has been designated by the UNESCO in 1997 and which extends over five German Federal States. it has an area of ca. 282.250 ha and is the largest inland-biosphere reserve of Germany. The Biosphere reserve "Flusslandschaft Elbe" represents one of the last near natural mideuropean river-landscapes. In the town of Lenzen you can find the Lenzen castle including a visitor centre with viewtower run by an nature conservation NGO.
