"Great value for price, spotless clean room and establishment, great location right behind Marienplatz and two stops from the central railway station. Good complimentary breakfast. On the less positive side, pillows were two soft and became quickly just flat. Sleeping with two pillows at once was not comfortable. At 8am lots of room from a banging door just next to mine, probably a service access?"

"As the Hotel in Nurenberg was full for the first night of our trip, we thought we would try a night in Munich. The Hotel was chosen as it was roughly in the area we wanted to be in. The staff were all very helpful and the breakfast was good 😊 for what we wanted. The only issue was the room. Sloping ceiling is definitely not easy for a tall person!"

"For us, Mercure Hotel Muenchen Altstadt, it's the one and only hotel in Munich. It's been our only choice for the past 15 years and everytime we come to Munich we would not stay anywhere else. The hotel location cannot be better, walking distance to all atractions. Rooms are sparkling clean and well kept. A great variety for breakfast, serving the best natural orange juice I've ever tasted. Thank you Mrs. Mersiha Durgutovic for looking after us for so long and it's been a pleasure to consider you our friend since the first day we stepped foot in your location."

"Too many steps everywhere, at the entrance, in each floor, and way to the restaurant. It's impossible to get around if you're on a wheelchair or walker, and hatd for visually challenged people. The hotel must make it abundandly clear that it is NOT ACCESSIBLE. The breakfast buffet is OK. I stayed at many Ibis hotels, which are one rank below Mercure, but food at Ibis in Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Japan was far superior. Is this a German thing? I checked in online via the member portal, with the passport number, etc. Still the receptionist (Angelica) required the passport and she handled it very roughly (opening the passport book 360 degrees, damaging the spine of the passport for no reason). She was less than cordial while very friendly to the other customers (Spanish speaking like her) who were checking in after us. Not very pleasant experience."

The hotel location is excellent- it’s just a stone’s throw to Marienplatz, U-Bahn and S-Bahn station which connects directly to the airport and it’s right in the main shopping area with many eateries around. Other attractions like the Deutsches Museum, English Garden and the Residenz are in walking distance. Hauptbahnhof München is just a 14-minute walk away. Breakfast was good. Complimentary self-service coffee, hot chocolate and water was available all day in the breakfast serving area. Complimentary drinks were stocked inside the fridge in hotel room every day. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. There’s an individual temperature control inside our room. We felt safe in the area around the hotel."
