When booking individually, you can choose from various tours around the Old Cemetery: Old Cemetery - general tour In 1828, the city laid out today's Old Cemetery between Nieder-Ramstädter-Straße and Herdweg. Designed as a rectangle, it was extended in 1848, 1873 and 1894 to its present form. The late classicist mortuary with chapel was inaugurated in 1860. The gravestones are richly decorated. Family coats of arms, busts, symbolic decorations and grave structures reflect the history of the town and the deceased. Ludwig and Luise Büchner, Georg Moller, Joseph Maria Olbrich, Ludwig Habich and Elisabeth Langgässer, among others, were laid to rest here. or Old Cemetery - Angels & Ivy Angels and ivy adorn the graves of many Darmstadt residents. A walk through the Old Cemetery takes a closer look at them. The tour focuses on the graves of women and men whose works are still visible in Darmstadt today: from Georg Moller and Heinrich Emanuel Merck to Ilse Langner and the Wiener brewery family. The tour commemorates their lives and aims to open our eyes to the language of mourning. Meeting point: Herdweg entrance Duration: 120 minutes.
