Description

Nestled between the Untersberg, the Götschen, and the Lattengebirge mountains—including the “Hexe”—this vacation rental is located in a sunny, quiet spot in Bischofswiesen Winkl on the top floor of an apartment building with a garden. From the apartment’s south-facing balcony, you have a view of the garden, the Untersberg, the Kehlsteinhaus, the Hoher Göll, and the Jenner; from the north-facing balcony, you can see the “Hexe.” The garden is available for use by all residents.

There is a bus stop right nearby that takes you (free of charge with the guest card) directly to Berchtesgaden (approx. 7 km), Königssee (approx. 12 km), or Bad Reichenhall (11 km), from where you can continue on to Salzburg, Ramsau, the Obersalzberg, or Munich, for example. If you enjoy cycling, the Königssee–Bodensee Bike Trail, which passes by there, also leads to these destinations. Within walking distance (approx. 800 m), you’ll find a large shopping center with supermarkets (Edeka, Aldi), a drugstore, as well as clothing and sports stores.

Just a few steps from the house, the Maximilian Riding Trail invites you to take leisurely walks. You can hike up the Untersberg (1,972 m), Götschenkopf (1,307 m), and Karkopf (1,738 m) directly from the house—provided you are in good physical condition. An outdoor swimming pool with a view of the Watzmann is just a 6-minute drive (4.6 km) away. In winter, you can hike on cleared winter trails, go downhill skiing, go ski touring, or cross-country skiing on groomed trails. Your hosts will be happy to provide tips and information on hikes, bike tours, and excursions in the surrounding area.

Environment description

There are many tourist highlights in the area around Bischofswiesen. These include, in particular, the Berchtesgaden National Park with its lakes, mountains, alpine pastures, and breathtaking scenery and nature; the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine; the Obersalzberg with its documentation center, which vividly conveys the history of the Third Reich; the Mozart city of Salzburg with its beautiful downtown, cathedral, castle, Salzburg Zoo, Hellbrunn Palace, and more; and Bad Reichenhall with its flower-filled spa gardens, pedestrian zone, the Predigstuhlbahn cable car up to the Predigtstuhl, and Lake Thum. Destinations worth visiting that are a bit further away include, for example, Lake Chiemsee with Herrenchiemsee Palace and Munich. Those who simply want to take it easy can relax at the Watzmanntherme (Berchtesgaden) or the Rupertus Therme (Bad Reichenhall).

About the host

Our love of nature and the mountains—that is, Ingrid Reichenberger and Herbert Schwainberger—prompted us to move from Munich to Bischofswiesen. Since 2024, we have been welcoming guests from Germany and abroad to our beautiful Klausgraben vacation apartment with a terrace, and starting in September 2026, to our very spacious Silvia vacation apartment with two balconies. We are delighted when our guests feel at home with us and share our enthusiasm for the Berchtesgadener Land, its residents, and this unique natural setting.

The prices quoted do not include the visitor's tax of 3.10 euros for adults, 1.55 euros for children/young people from 7 to 16 years of age and 0.00 euros for children from 0 - 6 years per person and day of stay (subject to change).
