Welcome to your mountain retreat – our lovingly furnished holiday flat in Hintergschwendt offers a place where nature, activity and relaxation come together in perfect harmony. This 65-square-metre, non-smoking flat on the first floor, with its gently sloping ceiling, is bright, cosy and designed with great attention to detail. The alpine charm combined with clean, modern furnishings creates an atmosphere in which families, couples and solo travellers immediately feel at home. The quietly situated flat, featuring vinyl flooring, has two bedrooms: one with a double bed (180×200 cm) and another with a bunk bed and a single bed (both 90×200 cm). The open-plan living area, featuring a sofa, dining area, flat-screen TV and Bluetooth speaker, flows directly into the fully equipped kitchen – complete with an oven, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, Nespresso machine, kettle and toaster. A yoga mat and a Blackroll are provided for moments of relaxation or activity. Fast Wi-Fi enables both streaming and remote working. The large balcony, bathed in evening sun and featuring a small seating area, invites you to wind down the day in peace. The bathroom is equipped with a bath, toilet and hairdryer. Bed linen and towels are provided. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and the peace and quiet – an ideal base for hikes, nature experiences and relaxing days in the Chiemgau region. The three-room, non-smoking Apartment 26, featuring two separate bedrooms and a balcony, combines alpine charm with a clean, modern design. It is situated in a well-maintained holiday complex comprising a total of 26 individually designed apartments at the Gschwendtner Hof – a place where relaxing and active holidays can be perfectly combined. At an altitude of 840 metres in the idyllic high valley of Hintergschwendt – between Aschau and Bernau – you can enjoy peace and quiet, nature and a stunning mountain backdrop, surrounded by meadows and forests between the Kampenwand and Lake Chiemsee. The apartment is the ideal starting point for hikes, cycle rides and excursions in the region. You’ll find shops and restaurants of all kinds in the nearby villages. A well-maintained communal garden with wooden loungers, outdoor seating, a barbecue area and an open fire pit invites you to relax and socialise. In the basement, our guests have access to a sauna, two pieces of fitness equipment (a treadmill and an exercise bike), a coin-operated washing machine and a coin-operated tumble dryer. There is also a storage room, a drying room with ski storage, and a cosy lounge with a table tennis table, table football, darts, a pool table, a games corner and seating. Wi-Fi and ample parking are available free of charge. Pets are not permitted in this flat. A bread roll service (limited in winter) can be conveniently ordered and paid for yourself – for a delicious start to the day.
Environment description
The Chiemgau is a wonderful destination even in winter. Provided there is sufficient snow, the surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and snowshoeing. Cross-country skiing and ski touring are available right on your doorstep. At the same time, the surrounding area offers numerous cultural attractions for a varied holiday. The cities of Salzburg, Munich and Kufstein, as well as the impressive Königssee and Berchtesgaden, are all easily accessible by car within an hour. The nearby Chiemsee – affectionately known as the ‘Bavarian Sea’ – is just a ten-minute drive away and offers a wide range of options for boat trips, such as a visit to Herrenchiemsee Palace and the idyllic Fraueninsel, as well as water sports and relaxing days by the water. For those interested in culture, there is a wealth of destinations to explore: the cities of Salzburg, Munich and Kufstein, as well as the picturesque Königssee, are all easily accessible within an hour and are ideal for varied day trips.

Those who prefer a slightly more challenging ride will find ideal conditions to test their skills at the nearby bike park on the Samerberg. Paragliders are sure to get their money’s worth in the surrounding flying areas. There, even as a passenger, you have the chance to explore the region from above on a tandem flight. Are you a fan of water sports? Then Lake Chiemsee, affectionately known as the ‘Bavarian Sea’, is just the place for you. The nearest lido, Chiemseepark Bernau-Felden, is just a ten-minute drive away. There you can go for a dip, swim, sail, try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and go kayaking.

Arrival Description
A8 Munich-Salzburg, Frasdorf/Aschau exit. After 4 km, turn off at the roundabout in Aschau towards Bernau/Prien. After another 3 km, a road branches off to the right in Außerkoy. Follow the signs for "Gschwendtnerhof" and drive 3 km uphill until you reach the high valley of Hintergschwendt. There is a large car park in front of the house.
