Information

Excursion to Meißen and Wackerbarth Castle by bus with a guide

Travel by bus to Meißen, a city known as the "Cradle of Saxony" due to its 1,000-year history.

Accompanied by a guide, you will explore the historic Old Town, with its winding alleys, the Cathedral, and Albrechtsburg Castle.
Take a walking tour through Meißen's lovingly restored historic Old Town. Pass by magnificent Renaissance townhouses and old canons' residences on your way to Cathedral Square, home to the striking ensemble of Albrechtsburg Castle and the Cathedral-landmarks visible from afar. You will be fascinated by the diverse history of this city, spanning over a millennium, and its significance as the birthplace of European porcelain and the original seat of the Saxon ruling dynasty.

Midday organ recital, including a visit to the Cathedral and Cathedral Museum
Journey back to the origins of Saxon history and experience a Gothic interior that continues to amaze visitors today with the architectural prowess of the people who built it. Afterward, you are invited to listen to a midday organ recital (approx. 30 minutes of music). You may then explore the Cathedral and Cathedral Museum at your own pace.

Plated meal at the "Domkeller Meißen" restaurant (drinks not included)
Located right next to Albrechtsburg Castle and the Cathedral, "Domkeller Meißen" is an ideal destination for tour groups of all kinds.
It is perfectly suited for hosting guests. Its location-offering a stunning view over Meißen's Old Town and the Elbe River-combined with its inviting atmosphere, provides the perfect setting to treat guests to authentic regional cuisine.

Select your meal when booking:
*Buttered pasta with wild garlic pesto, sautéed vegetables, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes
*Oven-fresh roast country pork in dark beer sauce, served with sauerkraut and rolled dumplings
*Dresden-style beef *Sauerbraten* in gingerbread cream sauce, served with red cabbage with apple and a potato dumpling
*"Winzerin" (Winemaker's Style) Trout: steamed in Meissen Riesling, served with vegetables, parsley potatoes, and a small salad

To conclude the day, we travel along the Saxon Wine Route to Schloss Wackerbarth. Once the residence of counts and the site of lavish festivities hosted by the court of Augustus the Strong, it is now home to Europe's first "experience winery," welcoming guests every day.

Experience a unique blend of Baroque architecture, picturesque vineyards, and modern production facilities. On our wine tour, we take you through the vineyards and the wine cellar to show you the fermentation process, explain how gentle aging in barrique barrels preserves natural aromas, and highlight the elements that define the character of our wines. A tasting of three wines awaits you afterwards.
