Guided tour of the "New Green Vault" + admission ticket to the Royal Palace - only in GERMAN
Glare-free display cases and state-of-the-art lighting technology put each artwork in the spotlight, allowing unusually close views of the intricately detailed pieces. For example, you can see a tiny chess set that has become a crowd-pleaser, the magnificent chess set of Augustus the Strong; a cherry pit with, according to the inventory, "185 faces"-a masterpiece of microcarving; or the hat clasp with the only large, naturally green diamond ever found. Augustus III acquired it at the Easter Fair in Leipzig in 1742 for the enormous price of 400,000 talers! The fascinated reactions of visitors show that the artworks have lost none of their brilliance over the centuries.
