St. Antönien ist seit Juni 2021 das erste Bergsteigerdorf der Schweiz. Damit ist das beschauliche Walserdorf dem Netzwerk von mehr als 30 Bergsteigerdörfern in fünf Alpenländern beigetreten, welche sich dem naturnahen Tourismus verschrieben haben.

Mit der kleinen Buchreihe «Alpingeschichte kurz und bündig» möchte die Initiative Bergsteigerdörfer die Geschichten der einzelnen Dörfer sichtbar machen, denn Erinnerungen und Erlebnisse bleiben nur erhalten, wenn sie erzählt werden. The SAC climbing guide Graubünden describes almost all current sport climbing routes of the entire canton, from Fläscherberg in the north to Oberalp Pass in the west and from Lower Engadine in the east to Puschlav and Bergell in the south. Especially the single pitch routes and climbing gardens are listed in detail.
