Water experience: Cham small hydroelectric power station

Description
Discover how electricity is produced from hydropower.
The Untermühle small hydroelectric power station on the lower Lorze was commissioned in 1903 and generated electricity for the paper mill in Cham for a long time. In 2002, the power plant became the property of Wasserwerke Zug (WWZ) and was extensively renovated in 2010. This enabled electricity production to be almost doubled. 12 cubic metres of water per second flow through the new Kaplan tubular turbine, which has a maximum output of 570 kilowatts. During the guided tour you will experience both the modern plant and parts of the historical plant.
