WELCOME TO THE GUESTHOUSE
DIE ALTE POST.
The guest house is located at the foot of the castle, on the edge of the beautifully landscaped village square of Albrechtsberg.
The name is derived from the former, historic post office, in whose image the guest house was rebuilt in 2018 on exactly the same spot. Modern comfort is combined with historical flair.
The old post office building, embedded in the historical ensemble of the castle and village square, can be seen in many historical photos of the municipality of Albrechtsberg. With the reconstruction of the building, the well-known picturesque townscape has been preserved and enhanced.
We are delighted to be able to offer our guests a very special "temporary home".

OUR OFFER
Our house was built ecologically and offers space for 10 guests:
2 comfort rooms, each with a double bed and two extra beds on a small gallery (ideal for children).
Bathroom (shower, WC) in the room. One of the rooms has a garden-side terrace with a view of the castle.
1 apartment with a double bed and a pull-out sofa in the living room, bathroom (shower, bathtub, WC), kitchenette, garden-side terrace with castle view.

Parking in front of the house.
Both our apartment and the rooms are offered with breakfast.

For breakfast we offer good food from the region. Our friendly breakfast room invites you to an extended breakfast until 10 am. You can also enjoy our idyllic guest garden.

The Vinothek - a fine place in the rock cellar
"Weinpfarrer" Denk is known to many people today. Among other things, he helped to make the community of Albrechtsberg well known.
In addition to looking after the parishes of Albrechtsberg and Els, he was enthusiastically dedicated to the culture of wine. He passed away in April 2019.
We dedicate our vinotheque to this great man, wine connoisseur and former owner of the original building.
Anyone who was lucky enough to sit at a table with wine pastor Hans Denk had already won. The wine philosopher was a wonderful entertainer and had a wealth of wine knowledge that anyone could learn from.
... Denk earned his reputation with his extremely fine sensory skills, which gave him an almost uncanny hit rate in blind tastings. He often recognized not only the grape variety, vintage and winemaker, but also the location, especially with his home advantage in the Wachau. (Quote: Bernhard Degen, Fallstaff April 2019)
"Weinpfarrer Denk" developed the special wine glass series "DenkArt" for the company Zalto.
We are happy to organize individual wine tastings as well as events, celebrations and company events for you.

The surrounding area
Welcome to Albrechtsberg, the feel-good community on the Große Krems.
The historic village in the Waldviertel / Lower Austria was first mentioned in a document in 1157 as Elharteskirchen. The town's eye-catcher is the steeply rising castle with its palace. It is one of the most remarkable castle complexes in the region.
The baroque parish church and former pilgrimage church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was dedicated to "Maria auf der Stiege".
The complex is privately owned and not all areas are open to the public. The forecourt and the church are freely accessible.
The proximity to the famous wine-growing regions of Wachau and Krems Valley ("Kremstal" in German) as well as the art and culture city of Krems enables enjoyment away from mass tourism.
