Admission to the Dresden City Museum and the Municipal Gallery
A visit to the Dresden City Museum and the Municipal Gallery perfectly complement your city tour.
Experience the history of this over 800-year-old city through fascinating exhibits, rare film footage, ancient documents, paintings, and art treasures.
From the first settlement of the Elbe Valley and the founding of the city, through the golden age of the Baroque and the demise of the old city, you will gain fascinating insights into everyday life in East Germany and the events surrounding the Peaceful Revolution of 1989.
In addition to the world-famous Sophienschatz (Sophia's Treasure) and inventions from Dresden, numerous curiosities such as the neck ring for quarrelsome women and the "Narrenhäusel" (Fool's House) for drunkards are on display. The history and present of Dresden are presented in an entertaining way, allowing you to, almost incidentally, uncover the city's mythology.
The Municipal Gallery houses outstanding works from 1500 to the present day.
The City Museum and the Municipal Gallery are located right in the heart of the Old Town at Landhausstraße 2.
Please note that admission to the City Museum and the Municipal Gallery is independent and separate from the city tour.
