Schönbuch Coachings: Lego Serious Play
Description
LEGO® versus LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®
The distinction between the common LEGO® principle and LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is extremely important for this method. LEGO® as most people know it is designed to represent the real world as accurately as possible. All building blocks are modeled on reality and are used according to strict instructions to create an image of reality. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, on the other hand, is designed to give people the opportunity to present their inner world, such as perspectives, emotions, processes, ideas, etc. In this way, everyone can give free rein to their creativity. There are no instructions or specific definitions of the building blocks, so that building blocks can take on a new meaning – completely apart from their actual function or designation.
This LSP method follows a clear process.
At the center is a problem that all participants approach in the course of a workshop by building, sharing and linking thought models from LEGO®. Accompanied by a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator, all participants first build an individual model of their personal perspectives on the problem. After everyone has shared their models, they construct a
shared group model that reflects the central issue from the perspective of all participants. External and/or internal influencing factors can now be presented in the system model and connected to the group model. A common understanding of a problem emerges.
Strategy workshops
LSP can be used here both for the initial crystallization of possible strategies and for their evaluation.
Team workshops
New teams: LSP can help a new team to get to know each other quickly and to recognize and exchange strengths, weaknesses and values. Existing teams: LSP can sharpen the team culture and can present, evaluate and improve the quality of cooperation.
Innovation workshops
Thanks to “outside the box” thinking, potential innovations can be identified and evaluated. LSP can also be incorporated into the “Design Thinking” process and support ideation and prototyping.
Development of a corporate culture
A company's culture is the sum of all its assumptions. LSP provides clarity about what the respective participants associate with it and a common understanding of the culture.
Vision workshop
What will the world of the future look like when the company or project reaches its goal? LSP helps to define goals more precisely and present a common vision. This quickly reveals similarities and differences.
