The historic gatekeeper's house was built in 1820 on the medieval town wall next to the Neubulach Silver Gate. The gatekeeper collected a toll there for crossing the Calwer Tor. The town wall is largely preserved and dates back to the 13th century. At that time, the town was only accessible via 2 gates, the Calwer (Silbertor) and the Wildberger Tor, as there was a large moat in front of the town wall. The Wildberg Gate was demolished in 1817.
