"Dear Manager, I checked in late and stayed one night. In the morning, I noticed that there were black molds in the shower booth (a lot) and the bathroom fan did not work. Also there was trash uncleaned in the trash can. It was very unpleasant to know that I slept in the hotel room where black mold was. I informed this to the hotel reception when I checked out, and she said she will email me regarding payment reduction, etc (it does not deserve 4 Star hotel room fee). However, I have not received any response so far. Best regards, Mia"

"Parkhotel Rothof is full of character and has a lovely, calm atmosphere. It is very convenient for access to the city centre by U Bahn but with it’s spacious rooms and outside space, it is also a pleasant place to return to at the end of the day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay here again when visiting Munich."

"My husband and I stayed at Hotel Rothof for a week and have nothing but good things to say. It was one of the quietest hotels we've ever stayed in, we had our windows open every night and the only things we heard were birds chirping. Beds are on the firmer side but we requested a mattress topper which helped with the softness. Location is only about 10 minute walk from the U (past a really nice bakery where we stopped most mornings for coffee, tea, pastries and sandwiches). Staff is wonderful, helpful and professional. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. 10 out of 10 would recommend!"

"We loved staying at your hotel which suited our needs for an overnight stay perfectly. Your staff is very friendly and accomodating, everything was immaculately clean. We had a very quiet night and slept like babies. We enjoyed the many choices at the breakfast buffet which was outstanding. For dinner, we would have preferred a better choice. We were too tired to go anywhere so stayed at the hotel. There were only two different pastadishes available. It did the job, it fed us, was tasty and well prepared. But still…!"

"We had two rooms, one per person, each of us got child-size duvets, they probably didn't even cover half the bed. My bedding was with feathers. Fortunately, the only helpful person at the front desk - an elderly gentleman - found anti-allergy bedding for me and I avoided an asthma attack. There was no access to filtered water not to mention a kettle or coffee maker. My colleague said he froze, his room was very cold and lacked air conditioning. These shortages of basic things in the room were surprising considering the high price for the room. The worst part was the welcome at the hotel. When I arrived, my colleague had already taken his room because he had flown into Munich earlier. The young man at the front desk, after I gave my name, insisted that I had no reservation. He claimed that the reservation number and PIN would give him nothing. He was convinced that he knew better even when I showed him an email from the hotel confirming a reservation for two rooms for two people. This person insisted that my name was not in the database, when meanwhile later my colleague told me that the wifi in his room worked after entering the room number and my last name... I wonder if this was influenced by the fact that my colleague had a German-sounding surname and I had a Polish-sounding one? We came to an important event, where we were making photo and video reportage, we could not be late. As a result of prolonged discussions at my check-in, I had only 20 minutes to unpack and arrived at the event at the last minute, which was very stressful. I did not receive any notice in advance that I would have to pay 10% of the amount for my stay upon departure. It was not a large amount, but we were in a hurry to have breakfast before a colleague's flight and the paperwork was prolonged despite the fact that there were 3 people at the reception desk at the time. Evidently 2 of those 3 people at the front desk had trouble communicating fluently in English. A colleague wanted to return his room around 8:00, I planned to stay until noon, but since he got the room assigned to my name and I got the room that was assigned to him, we wasted time making sure that when he returned the room card/key on I could still go back to my room. No one asked me which details to invoice. So even though I paid for both rooms, one invoice was with the name of my colleague. Before leaving, I had to ask for corrected invoices. The politeness of the people at the front desk was quite forced and artificial. Not only me, but also my colleague did not feel comfortable in the hotel because of the atmosphere created by the staff. Yes, it was nice that we got welcome drinks, but I would have preferred unlimited drinking water (tap water tasted really bad). I have the impression that this hotel has great ambitions to be a luxury place, but forgets to meet the basic needs to ensure the comfort of the guests."

"I have been travelling to Munich for over last more than 20 years. Allways staying somewhere around Leopoldstrasse (Allianz, Munich Re nearby).....Ramada Inn, Leopold Hotel etc etc...and many more. But ROTHOF is really something special - excellent rooms - very much appreciate to have a balcony / terrace and also the quality of the bed itself (after 27 years of business travelling, I have really these priorities - comfortable room, comfortable and quality bed and balcony is veeeery much appreciated - it really got me! In addition, the staff is veeeery different to any 5 star hotels, they are getting worse and worse every year....not responding to your requests, not understanding yxour needs etc. My experience at the ROTHOF was completely deferent and found your staff very responsive, flexible, not bothering with anything, just very good atmosphere. Thank you for that. As regards breakfast, very good as well, coffee fine,....the park is an excellent added value, sitting on the terrace of the restaurant and enjoying the atmosphere there is one of my best memories from the hotel. You cannot see this in any other hotel of this kind (meaning in the middle of a large city. Really fantastic. You really surprised me in a very positive way. I was really amazed /otherwise would not even bother to write this review :-) /. Seriously, I was very amazed...the only issue I had that I could stay only for 1 night and day...."

"While the room, grounds and dining area were clean and comfortable, the staff at the downstairs lounge were disappointing. Both nights the bartenders were slow, loud and not in control of the beverages. The staff around the hotel were exceptionally friendly and courteous, however the service in the lounge made us wish we had found a different establishment to enjoy ourselves."

"The hotel is spotless and efficient in all its elements, the staff are helpful and friendly, the breakfast is excellent but, perhaps, it needs a few, small adjustments. 1. It does NOT have AC which is regrettable in Munich's quite hot summers (25+ while my wife and I were there). Perhaps, fans are available; I didn't ask but I shouldn't have to ask if the are available; they should be in the room. 2. Especially in such heat, some complimentary, chilled water could be provided in guest rooms. It should not have to be bought from the room's fridge or brought in by guests. 3. The TV has few English channels. Understandable, but a few more would be appreciated. 3. We have visited the Rothof a number of times. Good reception practices recognise this with a "Welcome back". It flatters one's ego to be acknowledged. But, I am old and grumpy and know we'll be back to the Rothof."
