Description
Spend unforgettable hours in a detached holiday home in a class of its own. In an outbuilding of our private monument ensemble ‘Archidiakonatshof Billerbeck’ you can relax behind the walls of the 4000 square metre park-like property.
One of the most striking and historically significant buildings in the town of Billerbeck is certainly the building of the archdeaconry. This was the residence of spiritual dignitaries who represented the Bishop of Münster in Billerbeck on his behalf and were responsible for administrative matters, care of the poor - today's Caritas work - and also for jurisdiction. The first archdeacon sent to Billerbeck by the bishop is first documented in 1220. Since then, the archdeaconry in Billerbeck has had a continuous history of over 800 years, which is closely linked to the history of the diocese of Münster.
The current building can essentially be traced back to the construction activities of Wilhelm Freiherr von Fürstenberg, who had his official residence as archdeacon built on the remains of the previous building in 1679. At the end of the 18th century, the building, which was hardly used by the church at the time, passed into private ownership and is now being used by the 7th generation of the family and has been extensively renovated in recent years.
The house with the beautiful outbuilding has a favoured location in Billerbeck. The well-known Trattoria Cox Orange (reservation before arrival is highly recommended) is right next door. The small café also offers coffee and cake directly on Johannikirchplatz. And then you are already in the pedestrian zone of Billerbeck, the place of beautiful things. Romantic old town and winding alleyways and warehouses, mighty Ludgerus Cathedral and St John's Church: in this historic setting, something special is just around the corner. First-class gastronomy and owner-managed art and jewellery shops.
Explore the Berkel spring area with Kneipp footbath and herb garden, listen to a concert in Ludgerus Cathedral, browse for handmade gifts in the cathedral shop or indulge in culinary delights.
