Bemeath the Surface – The Hidden Water Reservoir beneath the Mathildenhöhe
Darmstadt is...Culture
Description
Beneath the Mathildenhöhe lies a 19th-century technical monument: the historic elevated water reservoir. Built between 1877 and 1880, it once ensured a reliable water supply. This tour opens the doors to a place normally hidden from view and brings urban history to life: vast brick chambers, vaulted masonry ceilings, and impressive engineering bear witness to a time when infrastructure was a pioneering achievement.
Important note: Due to the limited accessibility of the water reservoir on Mathildenhöhe, this tour can only be booked on selected dates on request and with a limited number of participants.
Conditions/extras
