SPANNENDE GESCHICHTE(N) - Around the Ludwigshöhe
Darmstadt is...Life
Description
Ludwigshöhe, situated above Darmstadt, offers a magnificent view and has an exciting and varied history.
Until the Second World War, it was the region's excursion destination. Many Darmstadt residents spent entire Sundays there. Tour guide Matthias Lothhammer talks about the discovery of the hill as an excursion destination, the hotel and restaurant business with room for 1,000 people, the Ludwigsturm and its secrets, buried cellars, corridors, secret bunkers, radio and listening stations, the military use of the site and the destruction of many facilities and buildings. Lothhammer also talks about the incredible plans that were made for this special place in the forest, including a forest park that was to stretch from Langen to Viernheim. The search for clues begins at 3 p.m. and lasts around 90 minutes.
Afterwards, there is the opportunity to stop off at the Ludwigsklause.
