HEART OF THE HANSEATIC LEAGUE

The town hall occupies a special place in the market square and in the hearts of us Bremen residents. Not at all modest in the Hanseatic tradition, we consider it to be the most beautiful town hall in Germany. And we are not alone in this opinion.
UNESCO has recognised Bremen Town Hall, together with Roland, our ‘Statue of Liberty’, as a World Heritage Site. There are only around 50 such sites in the whole of Germany.

Step into the festive Upper Town Hall, which was and still is used for traditional events, prominent visitors, culture and politics. Listen to your tour guide's explanations and discover small and fine details in this beautifully designed room with over 600 years of history.

Embedded in it is a small room that rightly bears its name: the Golden Chamber. You can take a look inside and admire the valuable Art Nouveau decorations.

As you walk into the elegant ballroom, you may wonder whether it is actually a 20th-century extension. It is an example of successful architecture.

Monday to Saturday: 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

No tours are possible during Senate receptions, meetings or events.
Due to event planning at City Hall, dates can only be released for booking approximately one month in advance.

The following applies to all tours of City Hall:
*Guests may only walk through City Hall accompanied by a guide.
*There are no public toilets or seating areas in City Hall.
*Smoking, eating and drinking are not permitted during the tour.
*Backpacks, shopping bags, umbrellas, water bottles and wet jackets/coats are not permitted. These must be left in the cloakroom in the entrance area during the tour (no liability).
