F01 - In the footsteps of the Fuggers through the Renaissance city of Augsburg

This city tour allows an in depth look into the history of the family and their trading, banking and mining corporation - the largest in 16th century Europe.  You will visit the Fugger Houses (Jakob Fugger’s City Palace), the Fuggerei (the world’s oldest social housing settlement) and the Fuggerei Museum.  The tour culminates in St. Anne’s church, where Jakob Fugger and his brothers are buried. Their magnificent mausoleum is an important monument to the German Renaissance. In the old artisan’s quarter you will visit the “Old Silversmith’s Workshop” where the famous“Augsburg silver” was hand crafted.

 

Price:  admission to the Fuggerei is additional (with Museum) 7,00 Euros per person (groups of 10 or more)
