"Rooms were nice and the view from the top floor is spectacular. But if you go for dinner in the restaurant Chez Eric that is not so good. We were the with 2 people and we had a really expensive dinner , we were served fries with the main course and got one little plate of fries . This is the same as a single person got. When we asked for a second serving of fries we got charged an extra 6 € ??????? . Serving flat coocked spinach with a Chateaubriand (both full of iron) is not a good choice."

"Nice bright reception area, amazing views and good parking facilities. Room much smaller than I was expecting and would almost question the image portrayed in their website. Breakfast was good with varied choice. Beer choice is massively underwhelming, on,y one choice the barman told me. Very sad given you are in Germany, a country with so many great beers."

"The location of the hotel is unique. The room is light, bed and linen were very good! The hotel is marvelous!!! Drinks at the bar were very good! And to be able to walk directly into the forest is just supreme! I really enjoy my stayed!"

"We enjoyed the views, and where pleased with the restaurant. Bathroom was small, some light need maintenance, the place is a "little" old-fashioned. The parking is difficult. Despite the above if I revisit Freibourg, I may book again, to enjoy the view and the environment."

"Position is wonderful with a great view on the city. You are in front of the black forest and there are a lot of trail for trekking in the forest and that’s really nice. You’re far away from the city center, if you have a car that’s no problem cause it’s like 10 minutes. By walk it’s not a good choice, so you have to call taxi’s every time. The spa is quite ok, just two saunas and one swimming pool. No massage service. The room not bad, but the bathroom is awful, it’s really old and not comfortable; the balcony it’s really nice, with that wonderful view and a deckchair but unfortunately lack of privacy. The thing that was really unacceptable was that one night, around 2 am, i went to the reception to ask a bottle of water, cause i was really thirsty, and he was not able to satisfy my request. I mean, that’s just a bottle of water, and he told me that he didn’t have it and wasn’t able to find one, cause the restaurant and the bar were closed. In a 4 star superior hotel it’s shameful. So the hotel was not bad, but for me it’s a one time experience, Probably not come back again."

"We stayed overnight in the Mercure Hotel Panorama in Freiburg. We arrived prior to check-in so we could drop our bags off before exploring the town. The room was already prepared and ready for us. This was a great first impression and made our day a lot easier. Once in the room, it was incredibly tidy and clean as a whole. We visited the restaurant once during our stay, once for lunch and another time for the breakfast buffet. The service was great and the food was quality produce. We used the pool, which was lovely! It was great having a late swim before the 12am closure. The hotel held our bags again after check-out so we could explore the town and return later to leave. They were very accommodating and called us a taxi as well. Overall, a very pleasant stay. We will be recommending Panorama to family and friends."

"Fantastic hotel but: 1. Interior outdated, needs a makeover especially restaurant. 2. Double bed had single blankets, not our preference. 3. Outside thee hotel you notice wear & tear as well. This hotel is located at a fantastic place. Food for breakfast and dinner was excellent. Staff very very kind the complete team. We would love to come back in the future. "Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is very clean and I was very happy with the bed and room, sauna , pool. The Restaurant does not represent and fit into the Hotel. No good lunch choices, very overpriced menu for this level of Hotel. I travel internationally from Four Season and One & Only Hotels , down to regular city hotel. The food I musty say outdated, my meal was mediocre , dinner $ 80 without and extras. I oped to eat around town and for that reason also did not try the breakfast buffet."

"The hotel is well located, there you can find a balance between the city and the nature. The staff is friendly and dedicated. I would recommend the hotel to inform their guests that are staying over Christmas and New Year’s Eve about the availability of the restaurant when they book their room. We stayed during Christmas Eve and we got there we found that the restaurant was completely booked for Christmas dinner so that we had to have dinner in our room because it was too late to book something in the city"

"We have stayed at this lovely hotel many times over the past 20 years and it has always been consistently good. The breakfast in particular is superb. Parking is easy. It is about a half hour walk into the town. The bus is just over a mile away in Hedern. During this stay we took a taxi back after dinner in the town and it cost around €18. All the rooms overlook the town and have a balcony with a table and chairs. The bed is very comfortable but we would have liked better lighting. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. We can certainly recommend the hotel which is ideal for those wanting to walk in the woods, go cycling or have a swim as the pool is lovely. There is a low emissions zone in the town so you need to get a green plakette from the Town Hall. We did it online and it arrived very quickly."

"We have been staying in Panorama hotel for more than 10 years. We have mixed feelings from our last stay. The hotel comfort rooms, amenities, etc.. are still great, hotel staff at reception very nice. Nothing to complain except the shower that was a bit scaled resulting to have unpleasant high velocity spray on the skin. This was more in the restaurant for breakfast where we did not enjoyed vs. previous stays. It was totally crowed and it was very difficult to get a table for 3 people at the same floor next to the buffet (we were proposed to have 2 separate table leading to have our son alone instead of enjoying a family time). It looks that the restaurant is open to external people on top of hotel’s guests, as a result it was completely full. When we got a table after 30 minutes waiting time there was very limited choice of bread, a lot of empty baskets (on the other hand a good thing to limit waste I agree). We were supposed to go back there in a few weeks before Xmas but we will most probably change our plan and test another hotel for a change."

"Gorgeous view, quiet and peaceful roomz very friendly, attentive staff. Pool was great. Saunas were a bit small and one of them was not on all the time which meant the one available became quite crowded. Shame saunas don't make better use of the panoramic view. Would also have appreciated a steam room and ice cave."

"We lived in Freiburg, brought friends & family to the Mercure during many years. However since the change of the owner & our last stay in June 2023 we realised a big chance - unfortunately not to the better: the atmosphere is NO more the same: more inpersonal, cold - even the staff at the reception is trying its best 🙏🏻 Not enough light in the rooms, they changed the windows - so you cant open a little window any more during the night. The cussions are not quite well supporting a healthy sleep. Turned down the lights in the pool area… Prices in the restaurants for the menu they serve now toooo expensive - trying hard with the menu 🫣 tryed one diner - decided not to come back. Tryed room service: totally overpriced for a Mercure Hotel: 2 slices of toastwith 2 slices of rosstbeef/ 2 slices of salmon paid € 28, 50 - its a joke, sorry Price for the breakfast tooo high; less with a reasonable price would be a better idea… We had a similar feedback from friends … Disappointed -"

"We were told the rooms have AC and while it does have an AC outlet it didn't work, Barely blew any air while fully cranked. System seams outdated and on some sort of a central system. Pool feels unsanitary. Guests are jumping in to cool off from their Sauna or sun bathing without taking a shower first. Couldn't stand going to swim."

"It was fantastic to have long opening hours of the swimming pool in such temperatures. Freiburg was very warm and the pool was a joy. However the bed and pillows were too soft for our preferences. Water in the restaurant was far too expensive at €7.50 per bottle. This was extremely annoying on receipt of the dinner bill. Considering the price of a stay in this hotel then the rooms would be expected to be fully air conditioned. On our last two nights a dog was left howling alone next door to us while its owners were out. This disturbed our peace after paying to leave our own two minded at home. It is not pleasant to consider that perhaps another dog was in our room before we came to stay. We believe the dogs should be in a specific dog friendly area, separate to non dog family stays and that owners should not be allowed to leave their pet alone in an unfamiliar room. This detracted considerably from our experience."

"Very good location on hills with views overlooking Freiburg. Room clean and beds comfortable. Shower room definitely on the small side. No tea/coffee making facilities which is poor. Breakfast good quality and good choice. Staff friendly particularly behind hotel bar. Fire alarm at 9.15am Sunday morning…seems no staff spoke English so had no idea what was going on. Overall decent accommodation while think fair to say Mercury hotels haven’t the wow factor in my couple of experiences."
