No witchcraft ...or is it? The good witch Hanna: Witch hunts in Darmstadt (for kids!)

Darmstadt is...Life

Description

After the guided tour “Hexen, Henker, arme Sünder, Bauern- opfer und fauler Zauber!”, there is now a child-friendly format on the subject of witches and witch-hunts:

It is also allowed to smile and if there is not even a good laugh, it is not a good tour, says tour guide and author Matthias Lothhammer. He sensitively takes us back to a time when there were no cell phones, smartphones or televisions, nor TikTok or You-Tube. There were also no cars, no supermarkets and no Heinerfest, but there were books. In them, reports from the old days have been preserved and are now being brought back to life. During the one-hour tour of Darmstadt Castle, you can find out why witch trials took place and what was behind them. Read aloud by Matthias, “Hanna” mediates between past and present. “A long time ago, she lived on the outskirts of the city. Her real name was Johanna, actually Johanna Floria Sophie. She had three first names, which was quite a long time. By the time you've called out the name, the milk is sour. So Johanna simply became Hanna. People believed she was a good witch...” Whether Hanna and witchcraft existed - or not - will be revealed to young and old listeners alike.
